I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

(Psalm 139:14)

Am I the only one that cannot look at myself and believe that I am "wonderfully made?"  It says so...... right here...... in my Bible, the Word of God.  I see so many flaws in myself, both physically and spiritually, and can only see myself as barely "OK" at best, certainly far from wonderful.  My attitude is insulting to God and I apologize to Him constantly while continuing to see myself as a failure in most aspects of my life.  I know that God loves me and that should be enough for me to love myself.  Sadly, it isn't, but I'm working on it.........

But if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the LORD; and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.
(Numbers 32:23)

You can run, but you cannot hide.  Our sins will always be revealed to receive deserved consequences.

In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.
(Hebrews 12:4)

I can't imagine shedding one drop of my blood resisting sin.  First of all, I live in a country and in an age where this probably will not be an issue.  Secondly, I'm your basic coward.  Thirdly, Jesus has already shed His blood, knowing that I will always struggle with sin and can't be successful on my own.  His blood was shed for me...instead of mine......and in spite of my own sins and weaknesses.

; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.
(Romans 14:23b)

This scripture came from a devotional this morning.  The words were bold and almost shocking to me.  Brutally truthful!

For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.
(Romans 8:3-4)

For whatever reason, I was looking at all of the dandelions in my yard today and thinking of them as worldly sins. (Yes, this sounds a bit odd.) I was telling a friend about the yard treatments that I apply and things that I do to take care of my yard when she said, "your yard must look pretty good." Well, it doesn't and the reason is because I'm the only one in my area that applies yard treatments to prevent the weeds and dandelions. No matter what I do to my own yard, I'm going to get dandelions from the neighbors. I'm surrounded by their dandelions and they creep right into my yard, no matter how hard I try to prevent them from invading.

OK, back to sin (dandelions) .... in spite of my efforts, I'm going to be exposed and surrounded by worldly sins, not to mention that I have an ongoing crop of my own sins growing and thriving. I can't fight them off by myself, but with the strength and support of the Holy Spirit, I can put forth a worthy battle. Take that, you dandelions!
