You will certainly carry out God's purpose, however you act, but it makes a difference to you whether you serve like Judas or John.

C. S. Lewis

WOW....this came in a daily devotion this morning and I said out loud as I read it ...... "Oh wow!"  I hope these words give you food for thought, as well.

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
(Mark 10:45)

We are all expected to serve..... no exceptions.  Even when we feel limited in one way or another, the Lord will enable us to serve in whatever capacity He sees fit.  No, we are not all going to save the world.... but we can make a difference and those small acts of service will multiply beyond our own capabilities.

So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.
(Luke 17:10)

Doing just what is expected or required of us is not enough.  We need to do more and we need to it willingly, heartfelt, and with enthusiasm.  It isn't enough to just get by in this life.....God wants us to climb the next step and make a positive difference in this world.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
(1 Peter 4:10)

I picked this scripture because of the wording "God's grace in its various forms."  Gods' grace is not only unlimited, it comes to us in every way imaginable.  I know that I don't recognize His grace in some instances, which also means that I don't acknowledge and thank Him in those circumstances either.
God wants us....and actually demands us....to serve others, using the gifts that He has given us.  We all have gifts from God and should use those gifts.  I often use illness as an excuse not to serve.  Legitimate as my excuse may be, I also know that God will enable me to serve if I am following His will.
I'm throwing out lots of words that, simplified, just mean that God wants and equips us to serve others.  Just do it!

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
(Matthew 25:23)

My friend Elsie was laid to rest today and this scripture was used by the pastor at her memorial service.  I learned today that Elsie was born on a Sunday and went to church for the first time on the next Wednesday, only three days after she was born......and she never stopped going from birth to death.  That's a lot of church services (she was 89)!

All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks.
(1 Chronicles 12:38a)

RIP Kevin....

As we encounter the inhumanity, suffering, and sin that wreak havoc in our world, how do we respond? If the heart of Christ breaks over the broken condition of our world, shouldn’t ours? And shouldn’t we then do everything we can to make a difference for those in need, both spiritually and physically? —Bill Crowder

Lord, when I learn that someone is hurting,
Help me know what to do and to say;
Speak to my heart and give me compassion,
Let Your great love flow through me today. —K. De Haan

This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.
(2 Corinthians 9:12)

We never really retire, do we?  Moses surely didn't!  We continue to serve in ways that are pleasing to God.  The little things that we do to serve are just as important as the bigger, life changing ways of serving.  The point is to be of service to all people, believers and non-believers, and give back to the One who served us all, Jesus Christ.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17)

The Bible is not an old fashioned, outdated book designated to sit on the top shelf of the bookcase gathering dust. It's a living, vital, applicable resource for living in today's world. I'm blessed that I can open its' sacred pages whenever I want practical living lessons to guide and direct my thoughts and actions. What a gift!

And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

(2 Corinthians 9:8)

I'm struggling with finding my "Christian niche," a ministry that will fit my talents and expertise. From my point of view, I have no talents or expertise! I know that's not true and I also know that God will enable me to go beyond my limits, helping me to succeed.

I'll continue to pray for God to show me what He wants me to do in His Kingdom. After all, I owe Him EVERYTHING!
